As some of you may know Tjanels, NYVTR and myself are planning to do several 3 hour endurance races at Nelson Ledges this year. We are looking forward to having a lot of fun and we expect that we'll be fairly competitive :first: on occasion, but the emphasis is on fun:D . With that in mind I'd like to invite anybody who would like to help out with pit stops to come out and join in in the fun. It may be as simple as holding the fire extinguisher while we gas up or as involved as helping repair crash damage. There is plenty of time to watch the racing between pit stops, so it isn't like you're chained to the pit wall. We can't feed everybody who stops by, but if you commit to helping us for the day, then we'll make sure you get plenty to eat and you stay well hydrated too.
Our first scheduled race is Saturday June 16th.
Just trying to gauge the interest, let me know if you're interested.
It's definately a possibility. When do they run the Mini endo's?

Ohio, I think?
Ohio, same distance as Beaver. It's a high speed highly underated track.

3 classes all run at the same time.Typical lightweight (mostly SV650), medium weight (600's), and heavyweight classes. No novice/expert differentiation. At least two riders, we will have 3.
There is a fourth class called iron butt that is only one rider any bike. Mandatory two 5 minute pit stops.

Bang for the buck! It's the cheapest way to get lots of track time. Team entry fee is only $195 (split between two or three riders) and includes morning practice sessions. By the end of the 3hr race you will be fighting with your teamates over who is going to take the last shift becuase everyone has had enough:lol:

Sorry I haven't been on line for a few days... I just moved out of a hotel and into an apartment.
First things first..... I'd recommend it to anybody over 40 especially since I am! I will say that a solo 3hr is pretty tough though.
Anyway endurance racing is big fun, and its not too hard on the bike compared to sprints when you consider that you run slightly slower than the usual sprint pace. And the SV is overbuilt, so it makes a nice reliable endurance motor.
For those actually considering riding in an endurance race, coming out and hanging with us will give you a good idea of what to expect.
Yes Nelson is bumpy, but it is pretty fast, with average lap speeds approaching 100 mph on an SV.
My favorite turn is a very fast kink with a dip in the middle at somewhere around 115-120mph. I haven't quite gotten the balls to keep the throttle pinned going through it yet, they still shrink a little, and I wind up rolling off slightly and getting right back into it. But one of these days I'm gonna get it right! Still its really fun, except when the bars dance in your hands a little!
There is a great little viewing platform that gives you a good view of most of the track when you're not out riding too.

That kink would be the one on the back straight just before where you cross the track to get to the infield. Take it balls out. ain't no thang.
Bump this up to say good luck this weekend guys!

We actually didn't make it.....Timm ended up tearing the motor down a month ago and the shop screwed up on his cylinder head, along with some other circumstances we decided not to push it for June. Should be good for July though

Work, work, work,.... Now its going to be August 11th. But it really looks like things are coming together and the bike will be nice. 2mm overbore + the well known cam swap & a 2005 GSXR front end. Also I've taken off about every bit of extra metal that I can think of.
