It's 29 days away and counting down. Rummer has it some of the better roads have been repaved and this year it is going to be bigger/better then ever with events. Average year of bikes attending 1,000 plus Sport/Sport Touring type of bikes.

Just to let you know that some highways are good, others that you were used to are SHIT now.

Highway 518 - SHIT. Full of gravel in the turns. Huge potholes.

Highway 141 - Good. Pic Attached. Repaved and widened from Humphrey (Highway 400/69) to Rosseau.

Highway 400/69 - New four-lane superhighway. Speed traps are usual just north of the Musquash River.

Had another great day in SBR Land. 38, 632, 141, 518 and Swords all good. Added Windermere #4 and #24 today, they are in great shape. Took 518 past Orville all the way to, you know that little town where we turn down a road and head for Huntsville. Saw 3 deer there today. Never seen deer before. One was dead centre of the road and moved quickly away, no problem. The third one was safely standing on a front lawn well back from the road. It decided to bolt on an intercept course with the VFR. Big brakes, no problem. Apparently the bugs are really bad and driving the deer and moose out of the bush. Foley campers, you brave souls, take note. The roads were in their usual condition, some bumps, some sand, no problems. The road accross to Huntsville is paved all the way.

I know I'm going again to this event even if I go alone. I can never under stand why more of us go to this event with it being such great time. I don't plan to ride as much on the weekend though as past years due to so much bike traffic...and OPP looking for us. Would like to go up Thursday and ride all day and Friday also to get my fill of the area roads and sights.

Sounds like party time, nothing like being unwanted, especially if its by the government.

Sounds like another eastern Pa. trip or two can be put on the agenda.

YEEE HAAA! Do you want to go up early (thursday) ...We could take the long way home taking a couple days seeing the sights and go threw Manitoulin Island (that I have done after the rally a couple years ago and had a great time.

http://www.manitoulin.com/

Even stay at place on the west end of the island that I have been to before on my bike and with my car (great place...and the food is yummy)

I'll be there, I'll be taking extra time for the long way there and back. Still didn't reserve a place to stay because nobody told me anything. I'll probably just find a place when I get there or just sleep on the street.

Joe Foe from Buffalo

LOL  OK Air Knight, please explain to me again why you want to sleep in on the streets.
I figure if we get at least four of us in on a room it will cost less then $20.00 x's at least three days = $60.00 ....Canadan dollars a head to have a roof over our head a place to hide from the bugs, weather... if it rains or is as hot as some years.. and have a place to hold all our crap... and a place to shit, shower and shave. Is money that big of a problem or... you would rather spend it on gas and tires....OR your closter phobic?

Guys, guys - if you don't have a room by now, you ARE sleeping on the streets. Last year, I called in March and got the LAST room in the area. Your best bet is to bring a tent and sleep in the fairgrounds (I've been told that you should get there early and try to get a spot near the treeline).

As for schedule, Jac is leaving Wed morning and I plan to leave Erie by 1:00 pm Wed. If you want, let's plan on meeting on the canadian side of the bridge into Niagara falls at 3:00 pm - that should get us into town by dark (and miss most of Toronto rushhour)(as you know, it's super slab until about 1 hour out of parry sound). The locals gather on Thursday and Friday morning at Tim Hortons and we can follow them around to learn the roads.

I don't know, I actually enjoy the idea of camping out.

I wouldn't agree with that post about 632 being good.

I had my first get-off two weeks ago on that highway.
Gravel in the turn, stood it up because the front wheel was coming out from under me.
In a six foot ditch of sand.
I'm okay. Bike is okay -- minor cosmetic damage.

Just so you know -- Turn 3, decreasing radius right, full of gravel.

LOL Dave B. Your plan to meet up sounds good. As for a place to stay I know of a place that we can get a room/s. It runs on first come first serve takes no reservations. Stayed thier sevral years. Half way from fair gounds to town on the main drag. Not the Ritz but it's ok. As for follwing the lcals around I know the best rider in the area (Fast Eddie) that offerd to show us the roads. And I would think Pipes Guy would offer...

Any one else want to take the long way home?

I'll be taking the long way there and back. I need to order my tankbag soon so I can carry some tools with me.

I know all about FE. The 996 is being officially retired to the track this weekend (headlight bucket out, etc. etc.) and I'm trying to convince myself to go small and sensible (I have a buddy who has offered to hook me up with a new 04 600rr at cost = $7500) but now am faced with an insane price on an 03 954rr (1500 track miles, no squidly stunt stuff). I think I might need that larger tool to keep up with FE...

You need a larger tool, but not to keep up with FE...

I have a thought. We may be able to pal around with the OSR's club
http://www.osrclub.com/
also. Anyone on that visits the OSR page want to find out details?

OR like we have in teh past years pal around with teh Fuzzy Riders
http://www.fuzzy-riders.com/
and had a great time. Anyone on that visits the Fuzzy Rider page want to find out details?

Hey JoeFoe,

If there is still space available in the hotel room, I'd like to get in on that. Let me know. :)

I'm not sure if I'll be riding up with you guys this year, since I want to stop and see a friend in Barrie. I may ride part way though and just meet you at the hotel on Friday night.

Does anyone else have a Chatterbox X-1? I'll bring mine if anyone can communicate with me.

Is this the same hotel we had last year, or is it a different one?

By the way, my friend Tammy - the good looking girl on the CBR600F4i who wore my leathers for the runway blasts last year - is giving up some campsites that she had reserved. If anyone is interested, let me know ASAP. Thanks.

Sorry! One more thing...

I'm up for taking the long way in both directions. The highway last year kind of sucks. If Hugo (from Toronto) is going to meet up with us, I'd love to get the photos from last year.

JoeFoe - I'm ordering a Garmin 3600 GPS/PDA today to take on the trip(full color!). You should see this thing - it's gorgeous.

I just need to find someone who can put an accessory plug on my bike and make it look decent...

We're using Corlette radios.

crispiegee
06-23-2004, 01:42 PM
Ahhh... do those operate on FRS or GMRS? Mine is GMRS, but it will work on the first 6 or 7 channels of FRS.

If the Corlette are FM, then I'm SOL. ;) LOL

900Mhz

I will probably bring my two-way radios with me too.

By the way, what is the name of our hotel?

I will bring my Motorola 5820 FRS radios for chatting or trying to find each other in the thousands of bikes when walking around the events http://www.hotbuyelectronics.com/motorola_t5820.html

Time to plan a meeting place and leaving time.

Joe Foe from Buffalo
06-24-2004, 10:50 PM
I would like to leave thursday to enjoy a full day on the local roads Friday..before they become jamed with sport bikes...and OPP. This year I plan to check out the rally events in town and at the fair gounds Saturday and Sunday...but I have said that for the past three years and end up enjoying the local roads all weekend. As for a meeting spot and leave time. The location we met last year made sense. I would like to leave by at least 10:00am latest this year.

As for ride home depending on how many service calls I have backed up I would like to take till around Tuesday or possibly Wendsday taking the long way home.

I had reserved some rooms at the following places but have just released them.

The Ell-Mar Motel: 705-378-2441

The Sequin Country Inn Bed and Breakfast: 705-746-5911

The Victoria Manor Bed and Breakfast: 705-746-5399

Seems we have loose ends as all ways and end up doing it. Please... Is anyone willing to take charge of this or help at least and figure out who's going, place to meet/stay/ when who wants to come back/which roads we will ride thier and during the rally and back or what we will do during the rally?

I would like to leave Thursday around 9:00am and ride the back roads up and local roads (I'm not sure which ones we would need to take) Friday and enjoy for the most part most of the events at the rally this year (insted of spending the entire weekned missing all of them doing the local roads) then stay till the end of the rally (Sunday) and come back maybe Monday or Tuesday going the long way home (all weather permitting). I know of a place we shouldn't have any problems having a place to stay from Tursday to Sunday and know of other places taking the long way home.

I'm going. Meet Thursday 9am from Mighty Taco. I have no idea what roads to take, but I know we can stop at Mississagua for some authentic chinese food. :)

Joe Foe from Buffalo
07-02-2004, 11:17 PM
Why Mighty Taco? Makes no sense. Why not the same place we met last year which is on the way..for most of us and it has gas, money mach, men's room, food? Stop in Mississagua for some authentic chinese food? Do they serve breakfast since it does not take that long to get to Mississagua.

Yes, breakfest means dim-sum. 10am-3pm is the time almost everybody wants to get dim-sum so they pretty early you could say. They start as early as 6am for the early-birds (at least that's how it works in HK).

I don't know, I thought about MT when you said meet somewhere. That's where I normally go when I meet car/bike people.

Joe Foe,

I won't be able to leave until Friday, since I can't take tomorrow off. Hopefully see you there.

If anyone needs my space in the room, they are welcome to it, since I think I'm going to crash with some friends there.

Sad to learn your not going till Friday crispiegee. As for the space in the room...I don't mind giving up your room (even though your welcome and will miss you... and your great to have around... and still hope to see ya at the rally) I know the others guys (five total going that I know from our group ..some that oddly have not posted they are going and some are leaveing Buffalo Friday also as a matter a fact, but with thier bikes on trailers) planed on splitting the cost of the room...so they may have some sore/sad feelings since some are short on cash flow or would have camped if they knew how much more it was going to cost as mentioned in this and other posts about places we will stay. LOL do your freinds have room for us? Knowing you your freinds are hot looking single ladies and lots of fun...can at least I stay with your freinds...

crispiegee
07-07-2004, 11:04 PM
Well, I did want to save my bed in case some girl was lonely, but I may have room in the next bed. When I see you on Friday, I'll tell you the name of the place.

I apologize for bailing late: I figured that since I asked to jump in on the room late in the game, I would probably not be missed if I didn't make it. Last year, AirKnight thrashed around so much that I figured he could have a whole bed to himself! :D

AirKnight
07-07-2004, 11:08 PM
