Rossi challenges Alonso
-breaking news-

Responding to Formula One champ Fernando Alonso's quoted criticisms of MotoGP champ Valentino Rossi, and his claims that he could finish on the podium in a MotoGP race with some practice, Rossi has challenged Alonso to a duel, according to www.autosport.com.

"He might finish fifth or even get on the podium some time but I could do the same on the bikes if I was given enough time to practice," the Spaniard had said during a news conference.

According to the website, Rossi recently responded in Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport: "I read that if Alonso is able to make some practice then he can put a MotoGP bike on the podium with me. Well, I think we should drive a Formula One car, a World Rally car and a MotoGP bike, add the times together and then we will see who is the fastest."

Alonso, who won last weekend's opening F1 round in Bahrain, responded in Gazzetta: "Valentino triple challenges me? I find it something very enjoyable. So I reply I'm ready for it."

I've got $1000 on Rossi. Anyone want to accept this bet?

Rossi might not win the F1 race, but he will be in the top 15 or so. I believe that during testing with Ferarri he was only a couple of seconds off of the track record. I don't for see some one who has never raced a motorcycle making it in the top 90% of a motogp race.

I have seen rossie on all 3 tracks and he is fast. He is obviously fast in motogp. During testing in F1 he was in the top 10% of the race times from the previous year. His hobby is rally racing, and he has his own car. I don't know how good of a rally driver he is, but judging on how he performs at the other two, I'm sure he isn't half bad!

So could I if given "ENOUGH" time. Like 7 years running the track 81 times per day. Id give him a run for his money.
