Hey Guys - just got the low down on Fasttrax racing at Nelson - school/race license is $450 if you sign up for the April 15/16 2 day school. First race is April 17 and races are monthly (except July). All races at Nelson (the one in Ohio, not Ontario). I've spectated at Nelson a couple of times and this sounds like the ticket for me - anyone else interested? Roger? Richard? DPR?? (Yes, Jim, we can still work out a deal on the 954...). Info follows:

OTHER NOTES & CHANGES
We are adding the Buell Seniors Tour Class to the sprint program. See the web site for details
on the bike specs and rules www.fastone.com. This class will run two, 10 lap legs for the
day’s winner on combined finish positions. Just for those that are interested, the bike is a
Buell XB9R. The only modifications allowed are the spring rates if needed, other than that, kit
chip, air cleaner and race muffler, steering damper and your choice of tires. NO internal
engine modifications or chain conversions are allowed. The seniors class requires riders to be
age 45 before the last race of the season. If those that are younger than 45 are interested
and there are enough of you we will add a second class for younger riders with the same
rules. We are making a long term commitment to this bike and class, so it will be done.
Other classes:
Superbike: Lite, Medium and Heavy. Novices/Amateurs are allowed to race liter bikes.
GT or Formula Classes: GT I, GT II, GT III.
Twins & Triples: Lite, Medium, and Heavy.
Veterans: A & B
GP: 125, 250
Basic guidelines & notes:
Superbikes must appear as production as far as body work and maintain an “as manufactured
engine and frame combination (within reason, no 1000cc engines in 600 chassis,
except for Lites). Suzuki SV 650 are not allowed in Superbike lite, they can run in GTII, medium
twins. Superbike Lite is for FZR, FZ, EX500s, Ducati 750SS and so on
GT or Formula bikes, unlimited modifications with the exception that they must start life as
the cc it came with, you can bore them as big as you like but the engine must start life as the
original cc. In other words, how big can you make an ex 500?
Twins & Triples machines are subject to the same restrictions as GT and Formula machines.
VETERANS A No upside down forks, and machines that are not competitive in their contemporary
classes, examples would be CBR600 F1 & F2, FZR600/400, 600 ninjas, EX500s,
CBR1000s (old style steel frames) or just about any thing you have been sawing on and
would like to race.
VETERANS B Air cooled or non perimeter steel frames like the FZ 700/750, unlimited cc and
modification as long as it is track worthy. GPZs, KZs, GSs (any size).
GP 125 & 250; This is new and under trial conditions. These classes are for the TZs and RSs
NO SUPERSPORT or SUPERSTOCK CLASSES, too hard to police.
Trophies for the first 3 places in expert and novice.
All Races count for overall and class championships.

Good post Dave!

The open practice on Saturdays is tantalizing. They may be open to anyone with a racing licnese. I have a provisional WERA licnese but I will only run practices schools and trackdays - no racing for me.

Bob Stanley, the guy who runs Fastrax, is supposed to be a standup guy. The races he puts on are apparently low key and fun. (If any racing can be low key. . .) Go to http://www.fastone.com/soapbox3.pdf for an idea of how cool the series sounds.

ALSO!! They run Weds. afternoon practice sessions there for only $75. i think it runs from about 3PM to dusk with no class stucture - you just stay out until you want to pit for rest, fuel, etc. before going out agian. Curve??

I don't mean to kill this idea by any means but, $450 seems really steep. Is that $450 Canadian? Usually race schools are like $250-300.

Jonsie: Are you and Ryan going to run WERA this year??

Jonesie

I don't think so. I believe we're going to try and run the entire LRRS season (Loudon). Although, I'd like to go to VIR and maybe Summit. We'll see what happens.

wow, this got off track really far really quick.....

So for the $450 you get the 2 day school and then the races?

I asked Rodger the other day about this... he speculated that the races will be additional cost, pay per class that you race in.

If it is anything like how CCS operates, it most likely goes something like this:

$450 Race School
$110 License Fee
$50 For ONE sprint race (pre-entry)
$100 For ONE GT race (timed, usually 25 min, pre-entry)

Usually the Race School is independant of the racing organization that you will be running with, which means your license fee is separate and additional. The race schools give you your certificate to get your license. Then you pay for your license, then sign up and pay for your races which have entry fees PER race.

Ok, killjoy - it's $400 for the school and $50 for the license = $450. Race enterance fees are additional. Questions - contact Bob Stanley via the hyperlink in the original post.

I'm not being a killjoy. That's why I said it "most likely goes something like this" and "this is how CCS operates." I was only trying to help. Either way I think everyone should do it.

Jonesie

I will not take any joy in it. In fact I will kill any joy that... oh wait a minute. :haha2:

I'm confused. Are they not allowing certain bikes to participate?

NO SUPERSPORT or SUPERSTOCK CLASSES, too hard to police.
Trophies for the first 3 places in expert and novice.
All Races count for overall and class championships.

does this mean I can't run the school on my R1, or enter any of the race classes? Because I don't see any class for my bike...

Race license for which organization?Would it be recognized by CCS so i can race at Loudon.YES, i am hanging with the DONKEY PUNCH guys this year! They're teaching me how to go fast and crash on the race track!!!

Jonesie
01-05-2005, 09:30 PM
CCS won't recognize it. They'll recognize that you are licensed which would waive their requirement for you to take a race school, but you'll still have to pay for the CCS license. You've already taken your race school though. You just need to complete your rookie race, pay your fee and you're in.
