I am at wits end and can't take it any longer The site in on a death crawl most of the time now. I can't take anymore of my hosting provider. Hopefully over the weekend I will be able to move SR to something faster.
What a friggen GIANT pain in the ass job it is to move to another host, but I am pulling my hair out trying to make things better.
Sorry about the slowness. I feel really bad. I'll make it better.

I've been trying like hell to get this hosting provider to get better results. IN the beginning this site was blazing fast with them. The process of moving this site to another host is daunting to say the least.

Like I said before, its free, so I can't complain. If you are lookin for a faster provider, then that is the best news I heard all week. Plus, my boss will like it better too since now I will be able to get through all of the new posts much faster, and do more work per day. The same will be true for everyone. You will single handedly raise productivity for dozens of companies throughout Western New York. Way to go Jeff.

free? no Joe, it is not free. I wonder how many here realize the costs involved,
not to mention the work Jeff has to do to maintain it.
thanks again Jeff.

Just a suggestion...I noticed the $ Donate link in the upper right hand corner....perhaps...and this worked on a few other forums I frequent...that you create a "member's only" type section where members can only view and post too...and if you put a yearly subscription rate, or even a lifetime membership rate you could give away a sticker or a placard...something like that....might generate a little bit more revenue for the site to help off-set the costs!
Either way....and I think I speak for everyone on the board....that we sincerely appreciate your efforts and hard work in making this place possible!
Great job on making it faster.....Joe has been able to get a little more work in since the switch over!!:first:

Must have, or something drastic was done to speed it up.
No, the current host fixed their shit. For now...

Well it better go faster now. My VPS (Which SR resides on) was moved to a new bitchen faster quad core server cause of my bitchen. This should last more than a week. Otherwise, I have another place lined up and ready to go. :) Donations are always appreciated!

And to think, that I have installed multiple dual quad core servers at work and they are going to be running ~10% load (if luck) for their lifetime of service....
Good job at getting them to fix their over taxed hardware! looks like they might need to get some training on resource provisioning. :D

It wasn't a hardware issue per se.... It was a bad Virtuozzo VPS upgrade that never took right on this particular server...
The site seems really snappy this morning. Here's hoping it lasts! :)
